Snow in Reno this Wednesday???

It is sure looking like it at this time, despite the NAM12 and to a lesser extent the GFS showing strong shadowing. However, it is still touch and go at this time. The location of the jet and the upper level cold pool are key. At this time, it appears from midnight to noon, they will be located from Reno northward which would bring brief heavy snow to Reno. It is hard to tell using forecast soundings on the web, but as long as this occurs, it will be unstable enough for spillover with 3-5 inches of snow near the airport and up to 10 inches in the western foothills.
