"Dry" thunderstorms

Interesting pattern shaping up. Dry southwest winds are expected across Reno the next few days, but there is a system off the coast. Idon't trust these, as they can draw up more moisture from the south than the models realize. In fact, they can often trigger thunderstorms early in the morning. In addition, these storms tend to drop little rainfall so new fire starts often occur. The worst fire outbreaks across Nevada occur with these types of systems. What makes it worse is that the winds can increase behind the system and push any new starts. Could be a busy day.

Anyway, the Reno area fires are winding down. The Balls Canyon is still putting up some smokes and will probably do so for a few more days. However, it is unlikely to go anywhere.
